The best Education for your child
Al-Irfaán education prepares the leaders of tomorrow with a balanced program of intellectual and physical activities designed to help the young child develop a healthy mind in a healthy body. The lower-elementary years
are formative in a young child's development. This is a time of individual growth; a time to discover new ideas, talents, and interests. Within the social dimension of student life, students practice their interpersonal skills, develop friendships, and nurture relationships. An emphasis on character fosters positive peer interaction within our school community.
A diverse, highly motivated faculty is granted considerable creative freedom in the classroom to implement curricula that will stimulate and encourage students to develop their individual talents. With a balanced teacher/student ratio, each child is assured caring, personalized attention. The faculty continually strives to motivate the students to reach a standard of excellence in every facet of their academic performance. Students are encouraged to ask questions, seek answers, and engage in dialogue about pertinent issues in an environment in which they feel comfortable discussing various concerns and topics of importance in their young lives.
Academic instruction begins in Kindergarten and will include mathematics and Science in English while Islamic studies Social Studies will be in Arabic. Furthermore, Art, Music and computer will be bi-lingual.
Furthermore there will be an emphasis on Islam, morals and manners within the curriculum, in both English and Arabic.
Throughout the English curriculum, the language arts emphasis is placed on the link between reading and writing. Students experience an integrated
literature-based program composed of listening, speaking, vocabulary building, reading, and writing. The mathematics program uses a problem-solving approach that also helps students to develop an understanding of our number system and to attain accuracy in computational skills.
Direct observation, investigation, and experimentation are the basis of the elementary science program. Through the use of manipulative materials, children are guided to an understanding of the scientific process.
One of our goals is to get a student library going in the school, both Arabic and English Language, so that students will have an opportunity to take home books to read in their leisure time. We want to instill in each student a love for reading that will develop into a lifelong habit. In addition, we teach library skills to students at all levels.
Fun, interactive projects will provide students with opportunities for creative and social development. Students will work together on posters, murals, and research projects, which will enrich the curriculum and extend the joy of learning beyond the school, exposing students to the wonderful resources available in their surrounding community.
